Canadian Fertility Awareness Week
Redefining (In)Fertility

The modern family is built in many ways. We continue to elevate the conversations about fertility and reproductive health in order to drive awareness about the number of Canadians who struggle to build their families or who need access to fertility care in order to achieve their family-building goals.
That’s why, in 2023, we now celebrate Canadian Fertility Awareness Week (CFAW) - to place a more positive spin on an often heavy conversation and to be more inclusive of all of those whose fertility stories are worthy of being told.

Kickoff Day: Redefining (In)Fertility
April 23rd
We will be kicking off Canadian Fertility Awareness Week by launching our Navigating Your Fertility Journey Guide, which will be a comprehensive ebook to help you learn more about fertility, how to best support yourself on this journey, and how you can support others’ unique fertility experiences. This guide is just the beginning of what we hope to offer this week. We'll also be hosting webinars, producing new podcast episodes, and more!
Intersectionality Day
April 24th
This day is all about exploring fertility in marginalized communities, so stay tuned for social media posts, webinars, and new episodes on Fertility in Focus. This is a great opportunity to learn how fertility uniquely impacts different folks. We will be highlighting the unique struggles that People of Color and members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community face when it comes to starting families. We hope you'll join us as we explore this important topic together and share our posts with your audience!
Finding Your Voice Day
April 25th
Today is a day to celebrate the power of storytelling and encourage those with a fertility journey to share their stories in order to help others feel less alone. It can be hard to talk about fertility sometimes, but sharing your story has a huge ripple effect—you can help so many people feel less alone just by telling yours. Be sure to tag @fertility_canada so we can share your story with our audience.
Green Shirt Day & Light the Night
April 26th
The colour green symbolizes health, growth, life, and fertility. It evokes feelings of refreshment, peace, rest, and JOY. In Canada, we wear green to raise awareness, show support, and start important conversations about fertility, pregnancy, infant loss, and family-building.
Fertility Matters Canada (FMC) is literally giving you the Green Light! Join us as monuments across the country (locations TBD) light up GREEN on Wednesday, April 26th in support of you and your fertility story!
Fertility Awards Day
April 27th
For the first time ever, Fertility Matters Canada is celebrating the people who are making an impact in the fertility space. Our inaugural Fertility Matters Awards Day is a one-day event that will recognize and celebrate outstanding individuals and organizations who are committed to increasing equitable access to fertility care in Canada, excellence in patient care and support, and to promoting awareness of fertility and family-building. Join us on Thursday, April 27th at 7:00 PM EST for an evening of celebration and recognition. We'll be honoring those who have made significant contributions to the fertility community as well as recognizing amazing fertility experts! Details on where the live steam will be hosted will be coming soon.
